Tengah Bus Interchange, situated in Singapore’s newest town, is a pivotal development designed to foster community within the emerging Tengah estate. This interchange stands out by harmonising with Tengah's forestry theme.

Envisioned as a “forest town,” Tengah integrates lush greenery with modern urban infrastructure, and the bus interchange reflects this vision with its biophilic design. The inclusion of internal courtyards and expansive green peripheries brings nature into the naturally ventilated concourse, creating a pleasant atmosphere for commuters and visitors.

Strategically located near residential areas, the interchange employs materials typically associated with residential projects, subtly fostering a sense of community. Centralised communal areas enhance visibility and circulation, encouraging interaction among residents. With 12 commercial units on-site, the interchange also serves as a social gathering point, offering essential amenities in an area that currently has limited options. The design promotes smooth foot traffic flow with clear wayfinding elements and open spaces that facilitate easy movement.

Designed in adherence to Land Transport Authority (LTA) guidelines, Tengah Bus Interchange prioritises accessibility and passenger-friendly amenities. The ONG&ONG team ensured that the interchange caters to families, seniors, and those with mobility challenges, featuring barrier-free access, priority seating, and facilities such as wheelchair-accessible toilets, a baby care room, and a commuter care room for respite.

As nearby HDB estates are completed, direct pedestrian connections and green corridors will further integrate the bus interchange into the community, solidifying its role as a central hub in Tengah.
