Located along Keppel Road in Singapore, BeyondX is more than a workspace—it is a forward-thinking hub designed to foster collaboration and innovation. Conceptualised as a dynamic incubator for start-ups and industry pioneers, BeyondX represents the future of cross-disciplinary synergy. The BeyondX building was realised through the 360 Solution, to ensure a cohesive vision from concept to completion.

From an architectural standpoint, the project came with its share of challenges. The inherited building was in a dated condition, requiring extensive upgrades to its electrical and mechanical systems. Internally, the long, narrow floor plate posed a spatial challenge. Rather than viewing this as a limitation, the design team saw it as an opportunity to rethink the spatial flow.

To break the monotony of the layout, the team introduced quiet rooms on level 2 and 3 — small, enclosed sanctuaries that provide focused spaces for work or one-on-one discussions. These act as pockets of transition, softening the linearity of the floor and creating natural pauses that encourage movement and interaction. At the heart of the floor is the centrally located pantry, serving as a communal anchor — a casual, welcoming zone where people from different teams and sectors can connect. This transforms a functional space into a social catalyst, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration that defines BeyondX.

Level 3 captures the raw and experimental ethos of the space. Here, the ceiling was removed to expose the original building structure, while a new steel framework was layered in to support M&E services. This juxtaposition of old and new celebrates transparency and adaptability — key principles for a place meant to test ideas before they scale.

The wayfinding strategy extends far beyond signage. Anchored by a user-centric strategy, the system was designed to be intuitive, inclusive, and empowering, allowing visitors and tenants to navigate confidently and independently. The approach considered pedestrian and vehicular journeys, with thoughtful zoning and universal design principles that enhance every touchpoint of the user experience.

Key to the strategy is the giant supergraphic navigational signs on the building façade. Rendered in bold, perforated aluminium panels, these signs serve not only a functional role but also double as striking visual landmarks. Their large scale and deliberate placement ensure visibility from a distance, guiding users the moment they approach the site.

Further reinforcing the building’s identity is a series of empowering call-to-action taglines integrated into the internal signage and environmental graphics. Serving as identifiers for the distinct wings of the building, “Be Agile” and “Be Bold” seamlessly blend motivational messaging with functional wayfinding. Through cohesive visual language and an experiential approach, the wayfinding strategy at BeyondX transforms a commercial space into a branded destination — one where direction meets identity.

Brand engagement was also a crucial aspect of BeyondX, reflecting its mission as a catalyst for transformation. The branding team meticulously crafted a strong visual identity that extends beyond physical space, embodying the essence and DNA of BeyondX. This was achieved through bold facade treatments, integrated digital elements, and a cohesive brand architecture encompassing BeyondX, Beyond Expo, BeyondX Lab, BeyondX Symposium, and BeyondX-athon. Rooted in the principles of innovation, dynamism, and limitless potential, each logo and design element reflect the progressive spirit of the BeyondX ecosystem.

The strategic use of bold typography and a striking colour palette creates a unified yet distinct visual language for each initiative. More than an innovation hub, BeyondX is a movement that brings together innovators, start-ups, and industry leaders to shape the future. By overcoming architectural constraints and embracing digital-forward solutions, BeyondX sets a new benchmark for adaptive reuse.
