Overlooking the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Jalan Siap House provides an uninhibited view of its luscious green surroundings. A party wall separates the semi-detached home into a pair of units, while the massing was detached to create a hollow space across three floors. This void provides natural ventilation and day lighting, effectively reducing electrical consumption.
Sustainability was also a key theme, as much of the construction material either came from recycled sources or were procured locally. By reusing material that was already available, the designers also captured unique functional and aesthetic characteristics that only time can reveal.
